As part of the EU-funded life program, Oasen Drinkwater and 3S Antriebe GmbH are testing a system for automatic leak detection.Therefor, Oasen has divided two DMAs (District Measuring Area) into 6 sub-zones, which can be wirelessly separated from the control center software by 3S Antriebe. On the one hand, this allows the leak to be further limited (step testing: if a zone is separated and then no more water is lost in the DMA, the leak is in the zone). On the other hand, algorithm is used, with the help of which the leakage can be located relatively precisely on the basis of pressure measurements. The algorithm is successively compared and optimized with the information from step testing(Self-learning system).The goal is to measure zero consumption every night in the DMA. If the consumption gives an indication of unwanted water losses, the leakage is located by step testing and algorithm. The next morning, the fitters are sent to the identified location to remedy the leak.
As part of an SME Innovative joint project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the project partners RWW, 3S Consult GmbH and 3S Antriebe GmbH have developed concepts and technical solutions for intelligent automation of water supply networks. The result are intelligent and resilient supply networks in which important parameters are collected as part of the net monitoring and evaluated by a hydraulic model. The required flexibility is achieved through dynamic pressure zone management using remote-controlled and automated separating valves . If the data from the network signal that the system is intervening, the required changeover is carried out by pushing a button from the control center. With this architecture e.g. automatically locates leaks, carries out zero consumption measurements, prevents stagnation zones, saves energy costs - and at the same time protects the critical supply infrastructure. The project partners 3S Consult GmbH and 3S Antriebe GmbH offer the necessary engineering services and products under the name "3SmartX" to develop existing drinking water networks into intelligent, more efficient systems (see flyer "3SmartX" GER – ENG).
With the 3S drive systems, the maintenance tasks of the respective regulations can be carried out and automatically documented. With the Lovion 3S CONNECT product, the devices from 3S drives are linked with tasks in Lovion TASK.
The results of the AIG documented in the task can then be used in Asset Management with the Lovion RATING module for an assessment of the equipment. This makes it possible to use Lovion RATING to define a maintenance strategy that matches the condition of the equipment.
The 3S AIG is an intelligent valve maintenance device that records the torque together with the exact number of gears each time a valve is operated. The valve is communicated to the AIG from Lovion TASK via Bluetooth via Lovion 3S CONNECT. The measurement data of the maintenance including the '3S status light' are then automatically transferred to Lovion TASK and linked there with the task or the valve. As a result, the functionality of the valve and the execution of the maintenance task are objectively documented.
3S Antriebe GmbH will also take part in the Lovion management days. The event will take place vom 17. bis 19. Mai 2022 in Aschaffenburg. With the thematic blocks work management, network management, network construction, network connection, supply, waste water, plants, meters, measurement, information and integration, all aspects of the operational management of networks and plants are covered.

The 34th Oldenburger Rohrleitungsforum took place on February 13 and 14, 2020 . Our sales partner EBERO also presented 3S actuators under the motto "Pipes and cables - lines for a modern infrastructure". The 3S 300 D was exhibited in a column aquarium with a capacity of 400 liters. Visitors were able to experience our 3S 300 D actuator in action and convince themselves of its watertightness and the automated remote control.

3S Antriebe GmbH from Berlin, Germany, collaborated with its Dutch distribution and service partner Imbema to exhibit at Aquatech 2019 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. “With over 1000+ exhibitors, 25,000+ water experts from 140 countries and 1000+ Amsterdam International Water Week (AIWW) conference delegates, Aquatech underlines its position as the world’s leading platform for process, drinking and waste water. During 4 days filled with inspiration and innovation, Aquatech Amsterdam provide the perfect platform to network, exchange ideas and do business” (AquaTech 2019).
Imbema is an exclusive distribution partner from 3S Antriebe in the Netherlands. Together they have successfully realized a number of automation projects with multiple local utilities. At Aquatech, 3S Antriebe not only presented some of these projects and the innovative technologies distributed by Imbema, but also included LIFE SmartWater, a project co-fiananced by the European Commission’s Life financial instrument.
Life SmartWater technology is comprised of proprietary technology developed by 3S Antriebe in Germany, specifically combination of sensor management and electric actuators in water supply systems. One of the largest water utilities in the region of Oasen is the pilot partner in the Netherlands. For this pilot project 3S Antriebe implemented 20 3S actuators for buried valves and gained access to real-time analysis of their network operations. Therefore, Oasen have now the opportunity to monitor their network and also actively act on the condition of it.
On May 21 and 22, 2019, 3S Antriebe were presented at the booth of the sales partner R2M. UK is an important market for 3S Antriebe GmbH. Several water supply companies have already operated the 3S AIG. The first pilot projects with the wireless 3S valve actuators will start at the beginning of 2020.
